Abstract

One of the most significant duties of the 4 Buddhist companies in Buddhism is to develop and adjust oneself to the proper growth based on the principles of Buddhism. The Dharma principles including concrete success indicators of self-development are the 4 Developments in Buddhism (Bhavana IV) which consist of: (1) Physical development: living one’s life with positive and supportive relationship with the physical environment (2) Moral development: living one’s life with supportive relationship with social environment based on the rules without persecution but supportive living with others (3) Spiritual development: living one’s life with mature soul comprising moral, pleasantness and peace of mind, and (4) Wisdom development: the creation of knowledge, thoughts, and the awareness, the insight into the truth, the world, and the life based on reality. The Buddhists’ pilgrimage to the Four Holy Places to pay homage and respect to the Buddha results in 3 values: (1) personal value comprising abstaining from bad deeds but pertaining to good deeds with soulful pleasant (2) social value relating to encouraging Buddhists to actively study Buddhism and practice Dhamma more and (3) Buddhism Value relating to the continuous preservation and strengthening of Buddhism. The Buddhists’ pilgrimage to the Four Holy Places with the implementation of the 4 Developments of Buddhism in their daily life will, therefore, lead to the value of self-development, as well as the development of the community, the society and the country.
