Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) examine the role of school administrators in promoting students’ ethics and morals in schools under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office I; and 2) compare the role of school administrators in promoting students’ ethics and morals among schools under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office I classified by school sizes. The sample consisted of 254 school administrators and teachers from Social Studies, Religion and Culture discipline. The samples were selected by using the stratified random sampling technique. The research instrument included a five-rating scale questionnaire with the reliability of .986. Data analysis used percentage, mean, standard deviation and One-way Analysis of Variance using Scheffe Method. The results were showed that: 1) the role of school administrators in promoting students’ ethics and morals in schools under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office I in all aspects were at a high level overall, with the highest mean score being a role model, followed by formulating the policy, building community involvement, educating, arranging students’ activities and maintaining the buildings, respectively; and 2) the overall statistical significant difference of the role of school administrators in promoting students’ ethics and morals were at .05, however, in terms of the multiple comparison test, there were no significant differences between 2 items which were the community involvement and being a role model for school administrators in promoting students’ ethics and morals.
