Abstract

The purposes of this study were to study: 1) the emotional intelligence level of educational institution administrators, 2) the educational institution administrators’ performance level based on the performance standards, and 3) the educational institution administrators’ emotional intelligence affecting the performance based on the standards Secondary Educational Service Area Office 9, Nakhonpathom. The samples were 182 educational institution administrators selected by stratified random sampling. The instrument for collecting the data was a five – rating scale questionnaire. The validity of this questionnaire was .996. The statistics for analysis the data including mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s Correlation analysis were used to find the correlation of the factors and multiple regression analysis. The research findings were as follows: 1) The overall level of the educational institution administrators’ emotional intelligence is in high level. In terms of item analysis, the item with highest mean scores includes internal capabilities followed by interpersonal skills, general mood and stress management, respectively. However, the ability to adapt is in moderate level. 2) The overall level of the educational institution administrators’ performance based on the standards is in high level. The top 3 items in high level include the information retrieval skills for educational institution development, the development of high quality and practical educational institution plan, and the emphasis on the permanent-based educational institution administration, respectively. The item in moderate level includes the emphasis on the personnel development to the full capacity. and 3) The items concerning the educational institution administrators’ emotional intelligence affecting the performance based on the standards of Secondary Educational Service Area Office 9, Nakhonpathom with correlation level at .05 include general mood, adaptability, interpersonal skills, and stress management. The predictive coefficient can be written as a regression equation from the raw scores and standard scores as follows: Equation of regression analysis in raw score form is Y ̂= .102 +.339(X5) + .271(X3) +.263(X2) +.124 (X4) Equation of regression analysis in standardized form is Z ̂= .347(Z5) + .289(Z3) +.255(Z2) +.114(Z4)
