E-sport Model of LGBT Students in RoV competition: A Case study of Silpakorn University, Phetchaburi IT Campus

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to investigate: 1) the elements of RoV game through gay students’ perspectives; 2) the format of RoV competition among gay students; and 3) the gay students’ perception of RoV competition. The study was a qualitative research with focus group discussion of 25 gay students at Silpakorn University, Phetchaburi IT Campus. The research findings showed: 1) supporting elements for RoV game participation included 1.1) representation of war in the virtual world which require players’ imagination, 1.2) characters allowing players to choose the roles in their dreamed careers, 1.3) the sound and diction of conversations taking place in the game which transgresses into everyday life, and 1.4) the realistic spectacle and scenes which can be adjusted to the number of members; 2) the format of the E-Sport competition has not been formally defined and changes accordingly to the organizer; and 3) organizers are required to organize the events correspondingly to target audience’s needs, especially towards gay students, in order to attract more attendees.
