The Process of Public Participation in Air Pollution Prevention and Solution in Bangkok

Abstract

This research contains 3 objectives 1) To study the causes of air pollution in Bangkok 2) To study the affect of air pollution in Bangkok 3) To study the process of the participation of air pollution solution and prevention in Bangkok. By qualitative research methods. The sample of this research is 8 local government officers. The researcher gather data by using the questionnaire and analyzes the information from respondents.

The results. The sources of air pollution in Bangkok are: 1) The fuel burning from the vehicles, both of diesel and benzyl. Also, the pollution from the industries such as water pollution, pollutants and garbage 2) the geography of Bangkok is lowland. There are dense population and using a lot of personal vehicle to be the cause of air pollution. The affects of air pollution are: 1) Health, the particulate matter cause eyes sore, hard to breath, respiratory tract disease and catch a cold 2) atmosphere, particulate matter decrease visible range ability. For the process of participation found that, the information that the government informs people is appropriate and obvious by inform the details about measure and activity. Also, people can access the information through several media and show their opinion. However, the researcher also found that the staff and budget are not enough for implementation.
